Words That Work As Hard as You Do
Why good writing builds trust and long-lasting client bonds. As with all learning, Lego is at the centre.
I was playing with my children the other day… at Lego. They’ve got to an age where they have built some amazing things using the instruction leaflets: Hedwig with moving parts, castles, riding stables complete with Gymkhana. I thought it was time to go freestyle. I was wrong.
It’s crystal clear they are not going to be architects or engineers any time soon. To say that their structures lacked a solid foundation would be to sugarcoat how flimsy, superficial and (TBH) crap they were. You couldn’t breathe heavily for fear of them collapsing 🤣.
And it got me thinking…
Rocking a solid foundation
The words we use in business are much like building bricks. You can use them flippantly and enjoy flimsy, fleeting client relationships. Or you can use them wisely and build a business with a solid foundation, clients who trust you and repeatedly buy-in to YOU.
Imagine constructing a Lego tower (other systems are available). If the bottom layers are unsteady, have gaps, or don’t align, well, you’re screwed aren’t you? It will be an ex-tower quite quickly.
Good writing supports your business’s values and vision. It ensures your clients understand:
who you are
what you stand for
why they should invest in you.
And when you can harness good writing, you’re not just choosing words. You’re choosing clarity and connection.
Writing with care and intention:
tells your reader that you value their time
builds trust in you as an expert
sets the stage for a meaningful relationship… BFFs.
Trust doesn’t happen overnight
No quick fixes peeps!
Trust is crafted word by word, conversation by conversation. Clear and honest communication is the way to go. When your writing is transparent and reflects you (every time!!) you will reap huge riches, my friend. And I’m not just talking about money.
When I say every time, I mean that consistent messaging is super important too. Mixed messages or poorly written copy create uncertainty and rock your foundations. You need to be consistent in tone and style across all platforms at all times. Consistency reinforces the power of you and your brand.
What does Good Writing actually mean?
Good writing means clients come back for more.
They remember how your words made them feel: valued, respected, and understood.
And good writing might look different for everyone, but it always:
reflects your brand’s personality and values… every time
answers your clients’ needs, honestly and clearly
shows real care and attention to them as master of their own destiny, hero in their own story… you get the picture.
When you write about your business, you’re really writing about how you can make someone’s life BETTER.
Keep them front and centre and you’ll do great.
If you’re struggling to do that, get a copywriter in your pocket.
This is our Jam and why you pay us the BIG BUCKS.
Just joking! In terms of return on investment, a copywriter who gets YOU is worth their weight in gold.
